John A. McAllister, Jr. Receives
Thad S. Cwik Leadership Award

Columbia, SC - On February 7, 2002, John A. McAllister, Jr. received The Thad S. Cwik Leadership Award. The Award is named in honor of the former REALTOR® Land Institute President who was instrumental in founding the South Carolina Chapter of REALTORS® Land Institute, affiliate of the 800,000 member National Association of REALTORS®. It is the only branch of the REALTOR® family focused on land brokerage transactions of five specialized types: (1) plantations and timberland, (2) undeveloped tracts of land, (3) transitional and development land, (4) subdivision and wholesaling of lots and (5) site selection and assemblage of land parcels. Organized in 1944, RLI has been dedicated for over five decades to improving the professional competence of its members in land brokerage.

Mr. McAllister is President and a charter member of the South Carolina Chapter of the REALTORS® Land Institute. Under his leadership the chapter membership more than doubled. He represented the state at the REALTORS® Land Institute midyear legislative conference in Washington, DC in May and the annual conference in November in Chicago, IL. The chapter conducted its first accredited education course, sponsored numerous networking opportunities and developed a comprehensive plan of action. The chapter took a bold stand supporting the United States Department of Commerce's position that Canada's provisional government unfairly subsidize their lumber industry, and urged an end to unfair trade practices that jeopardize the US economy, forest industry, and land values.

Mr. McAllister founded John McAllister Realty Consulting in 2001 and serves as the firm's Broker in Charge. He has over 25 years experience in the real estate profession. He is licensed to practice real estate in South Carolina and Georgia. McAllister is a graduate of The Citadel. He is a graduate of the Executive Program of Professional Management Education at the Kenan-Flager School of Business, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also a graduate of the program for Senior Managers in Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. McAllister is a member of the Greater Columbia Area REALTORS®, The South Carolina Association of REALTORS®, and The National Association of REALTORS®. He is a member of The Board of Governors and Vice-Chairman of the Development Land Committee for The REALTORS® Land Institute. He is also a member of both the North Carolina and Georgia Chapters of the REALTORS® Land Institute.

McAllister is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He is married to The Honorable Carolyn Matthews, Administrative Law Judge. They have three daughters and live in Columbia, South Carolina.
