In GPS/GIS Seminar

Columbia , SC - John A. McAllister, Jr., Accredited Land Consultant, and Vice President of The REALTORS® Land Institute participated in a seminar that familiarized land professionals from North and South Carolina with the capabilities of using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Graphic Information Systems (GIS) in better serving real property owners, buyers and sellers. The eight hour seminar, sponsored by The South Carolina REALTORS® Land Institute, was facilitated by Rick Hood of Hood Consulting and Services of Edmonds, Washington. Hood specializes in custom design of seminars related to the application of cutting edge technology in many professions and functional areas such as wilderness navigation, emergency and team building programs. Participants familiarized themselves with hardware such as the Garmin GPS 76CS marine handheld global positioning system and MAPTECH Terrain Navigator Pro software.

McAllister serves as Broker in Charge of John McAllister Realty Consulting. He has over 28 years experience in the real estate profession, and is licensed to practice real estate in South Carolina , North Carolina , Georgia and Mississippi . His practice is focused on five specialized areas: (1) plantations and timberland, (2) undeveloped tracts of land, (3) transitional and development land, (4) subdivision and wholesaling of lots and (5) site selection and assemblage of land parcels. Through strategic alliances with business partners with offices in Chicago , Denver and New York , Mr. McAllister has access to resources to consult on over 72 classes of real property. He is a graduate of The Citadel. He is also a graduate of the Executive Program of Professional Management Education at the Kenan-Flager School of Business, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is a graduate of the program for Senior Managers in Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge , Massachusetts .

Mr. McAllister is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He is married to The Honorable Carolyn Matthews, Administrative Law Judge. They have three daughters and live in Columbia , South Carolina .
