Washington, DC - John A. McAllister, Jr. was designated an Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) by the REALTORS® Land Institute Board of Governors. The Board of Governors awards the ALC designation to members who have completed a comprehensive educational program, facilitated large land transactions, provided service to the Institute as a chapter and national officer, and passed an oral and written comprehensive examination. ALC's constitute a network of recognized specialists throughout the United States and serve the public in its need for land related real estate services. ALC's ensure that clients will find the best possible land for agriculture, timber, development, recreation, industrial, commercial and other specialized uses. The ALC network is a proven valuable resource for buyers and sellers. He is one of only four ALCs in South Carolina.

Mr. McAllister is President and a charter member of the South Carolina Chapter of the REALTORS® Land Institute. Under his leadership the chapter membership more than doubled. The South Carolina Chapter of The REALTORS® Land Institute sponsored education courses, hosted numerous networking opportunities and developed a comprehensive plan of action. The chapter took a bold stand supporting the United States Department of Commerce's position that Canada's provisional government unfairly subsidizes their lumber industry, and urged an end to unfair trade practices that jeopardize the US economy, forest industry, and land values. Mr. McAllister represented the state at the REALTORS® Land Institute midyear legislative conference in Washington, DC in May 2001 and the annual conference in November 2001 in Chicago, IL. He serves on The REALTORS® Land Institute Board of Governors, is Vice-Chairman of The Development Land Committee, and is a member of both the North Carolina and Georgia Chapters of the REALTORS® Land Institute. In recognition of his leadership the South Carolina REALTOTS® Land Institute awarded him the 2001 Thad S. Cwik Leadership Award.

Mr. McAllister founded John McAllister Realty Consulting in 2001 and serves as Broker in Charge. He has over 24 years experience in the real estate profession, and is licensed to practice real estate in South Carolina and Georgia. McAllister is a graduate of The Citadel. He is also a graduate of the Executive Program of Professional Management Education at the Kenan-Flager School of Business, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is a graduate of the program for Senior Managers in Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Mr. McAllister is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He is married to The Honorable Carolyn Matthews, Administrative Law Judge. They have three daughters and live in Columbia, South Carolina.
