REALTOR® John A. McAllister, Jr., ALC receives Alvah. H. Chapman, Jr. Distinguished Leadership Award and Inducted into The Citadel Business Hall of Fame

Charleston, SC-On Thursday April 13, 2006, John A. McAllister, Jr., Accredited Land Consultant was presented The Alvah. H. Chapman, Jr. Distinguished Leadership Award and Inducted into The Citadel Business Hall of Fame by The Citadel School of Business Administration in its "Leaders of Principle" program. The invitation-only black tie awards banquet held in the Holiday Alumni Center was preceded by a panel discussion featuring McAllister and three other award recipients earlier in the day at Duckett Hall Auditorium. McAllister is owner of John McAllister Realty Consulting and the president elect of the REALTORS® Land Institute, A 1980 graduate of The Citadel, McAllister is also a graduate of the Executive Program of Professional Management Education at the Kenan-Flager School of Business, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is a graduate of the program for Senior Managers in Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. McAllister has extensive experience in the military, government and business. He recently retired as an officer in The South Carolina National Guard, served on the Citadel Board of Visitors and as The Administrator of The Southeastern Power Administration. He serves on the board of The Forest Landowners Association. McAllister is the second recipient of The Alvah. H. Chapman, Jr. Distinguished Leadership Award, named in honor of Alvah H. Chapman, Jr., Citadel class of 1942, former CEO of Knight Ridder, Inc. The award is given to an outstanding young leader. After the banquet and awards ceremony, a cordials and cigars reception was sponsored by REALTOR® Steve and Jami Good and hosted by REALTOR® Paul Galanis , Sheldon Good Auctions, LLC, in The Courtyard of Holiday Alumni Center for the inductees and participants. During the reception, McAllister was presented resolutions of commendation for his accomplishments and service to his profession, State and Nation from both The South Carolina Senate and House of Representatives by his wife The Honorable Carolyn C. Matthews, Administrative Law Judge.

  • Former President Ronald Reagan
    Reagan was posthumously honored for his service to the country as the nation's 40th president. Retired Marine Gen. Paul X. Kelley, former commandant of the Marine Corps and former member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, accepted the award.
  • Raymond G. Johnson Jr.
    A 1955 Citadel graduate, Johnson retired from the DuPont Co. as vice president of manufacturing for the DuPont Fibers business, their largest chemicals and specialties division. He was instrumental in the commercialization of KEVLAR, used in bullet resistant vests. Johnson was founder and chairman of the School of Business Speaker's Bureau, which grew into the Mentors Association. He is a founding member of The Citadel School of Business Administration Advisory Board and founding chair of the Board's Leadership Committee. Currently, Johnson serves on the boards of The Citadel School of Business Administration, and The Citadel School of Business Mentors Association.
  • Gerald D. Ogier
    Ogier is an active member of The Citadel School of Business Administration Advisory Board and chairman of the board's undergraduate committee. He also is president/CEO and chairman of the Board of ContraVest, a property development, construction and management firm. Ogier graduated from The Citadel in 1965 with a B.S. in Business Administration, after which he served on active duty as an armor officer in Germany for two years.
